Telecommunications Act of 1996

Purpose

To ensure that all eligible schools and libraries in the U.S. have affordable access to modern telecommunications and information services.

Requirements

• All public and private schools and public libraries qualify based on their level of economic disadvantage and their location - rural or urban.
• Funds can be applied to internal connections and infrastructure.
